Do you really want the answer to this question or are you just asking questions for the sake of being clever?
I suppose the same could be said for answering....
Our culture says 'The eyes are the gateway to the soul', the soul is a shadow of universal essence, the universal essence the one principle energy binding all things, all things being You and I, You and I are One, One is I, I am the World and The Eye looking at the World. There is only I.
I don't believe any of it.

Is this similar as when you see a bottle as half full or half empty?
Or do you want to say that we are only half aware about ourselves and what happens around us? Probably we are much less aware than half...
Well, a good question coming out of this would be why we are only half aware or half asleep although we could be much more awake. What makes us want to not look at ourselves? Why we don’t want to see the world as it is? 'Why we built up a whole artificial 'potemkintious village' not wanting to recognize reality?
I believe a 'good question' is a question which triggers other eventually more profound questions.

Eyes half-way opened and half-way shut are the same thing. Like saying is this cup half-way full or half-way empty?

I always have tried to be very aware of things going on around me and in the world..So my eyes are always open !

sometimes open fully, sometimes half way open or halfway shut (its hard to tell from the outside, only the individual knows within which they are doing and sometimes i am not sure exactly which i am doing ), and sometimes i squint and only peer out the minimum needed, not often do i totally shut my eyes and refuse to see
