For example, if the top answerer on here gets suspended, is it good form to throw online "parties" to celebrate that fact?

It's the German national past time. They are the only ones who have a word for it, but now, it's accepted globally because we all do it.

The Germans have a word for it, schadenfreude. It's wrong for serious life matters, like if someone becomes ill, dies, has something bad happen to them or those close to them. It's fine for situations like being happy that a sports team you don't like loses.

i thenk its wrong to be outwardlee happee about soemthin that cause soemoen pain..u cent help how u feel, but its mean to rub salt in wound liek that. i cud understand if it wus a troll, or soemoen who hurt them, but petty reasons, is sort of mean spirited ♥

yes, because although they may deserve it (which they probably don't since they got best answer) you shouldn't be happy over the sadness of another.
