Purely from a hypothetical persepective, (not all people want to be parents, naturally) what would change in our society if every adult was an involved parent to a son and a daughter? Would certain practices change? For example, would it change the way people view child support laws or other laws that might effect teen daughters or teen sons? Would we come to agree more often on gender issues, or not?

If you have a child or children of the opposite gender, do you find that it makes you more interested in the rights of that gender?

Juniper sometimes we treat family worst than strangers. Sexist people have perceptions of higher self importance & use stereotypes to simplify life or ignore the obvious.

I have a son and a daughter, and I guess because its just what I am used to, I don't really find myself looking at ways to protect my children based on gender. I find myself just as worried about predators with my son as I do my daughter; I worry about sports injuries with my daughter just as much as I do with my son. I think that when you have two different genders, or four of the same gender, I think it is more probable that the parent is thinking of just rights for them all, no matter what gender they are. But I hear your question.....

I've wondered that myself since I came from a family with only daughters and I have only daughters myself. I've wondered if I would have been any different if I had one of each or sons. I really don't know. I never really had anything to compare myself with.

i dont think that we need any laws for this bcoz we already have so many laws regarding this. but here we need to light awareness programms. if every person changed his mind & give equal status to both the sex, then automatically the world will changed & we will not need any law.

My mom has a son and a daughter, and she has basically no interest in our rights as a boy and a girl. She's more concerned with our rights as Jews.

i don't think it would change things. already, we are 50/50 in regard to population, more or less.

i have talked to men who have daughters and are not progressive. i was harassed by one man and he did have a daughter. i imagine there are also women who arent teaching their sons to be respectful to women.

i have 2 brothers and 2 sisters and call myself a feminist. i'd rather agree on issues than disagree, but i'm certaining going to maintain my values.

i think we have to learn to understand each other - it's not a numbers game - or a matter of having children - it's just an understanding of what our issues are, of having empathy, of having understanding.
