Not the American government, but the American public....I've seen some rather sterotypical remarks on here....just wondering.

It depends on who exactly is answering. In my opinion Americans are much too diverse to place a sterotype or generalize Americans. I believe that is true for all nations as well. Each person is different, many may have similarities but not enough people believe in the exact same thing in American to actually say one thing and believe it is true about every American.

I seem to remember answering a question like this before. Individually, most Americans are "normal" people with the same aspirations as any other person. However en masse they seem to believe that they are better than others and that the rest of the world should abide by their decisions. They believe themselves to be the worlds policemen, when ,in fact, they bully rather than persuade. The problem is they seem to have the one thing in abundance that the rest of the world aspires to...money!

They have little respect for other cultures and seem hell bent on imposing their will on the rest of us e.g. TV and Macdonalds which combined give us obesity!

We're in the mainstream so everybody seems to have an opinion on us. You can't make everyone happy all of the time. Like in the case of Iraq where we overthrew a brutal dictator to put in a democracy. If someone took your power away, wouldn't you be upset? The problem is everyone wants the US to do something.....they just want to be the ones doing the decision making without taking the responsibility.

I think they are great. They get subjected to a lot of vile s hit on here which is way unfair. Wouldnt like to think they thought all English hate them, its not true.
I admire Americans patriotism to their country, it seems to be a dirty thing to be English/British and proud these days. All Americans unite under their flag whatever creed, colour or race; over here its a different ball game. We bow down before the PC lobby all the time.

Every individual American i have met has been very nice, i think one problem is that a lot of Americans have a lack of education for anything outside of America.

I am american by birth. I think americans in general are spineless cowards, with yellow streaks where their spine should be. no one wants to fight back against anything these days. use to be be would rally together and park their cars and refuse to move them when fuel prices went up. use to be people would rally together and put a stop to things that are wrong, like forcing us to wear seat belts like we are lil children that have to be told what to do. people use to rally together against things like being told when and where you can smoke. i quit 2 and a half years ago by the way. but I still don't think it is right to force us to do anything. americans have set aside and let our freedom dwindle away a little by little and it is only going to get worse. because of the cowards out there.

Americans are rude, arrogant, self-centred, obnoxious, egotistical idiots. Who have no respect for other cultures or people from other countries. America is an aggressive militaristic nation that has been involved in more deceit and terrorist activity than can be believed.

I am not an American but I hear the steoro-types: Greedy. Demanding. Intolerant. Gun-happy. Self-absorbed braggarts. Know-it-all. Loud and abrasive... To be honest, not too flattering. Sorry

the majority of the American population doesn't realize there are billions of other people in the world that are VERY different than Americans...
Americans think that America IS the only functioning country in the world............Sorry people but there are 194 different countries in the world and about 80 of them can compete with America on almost every level.....

most of the US population is overweight and in denial that it is a bad thing.

Americans are generally afraid of the public too.

compared to the majority of the world Americans are very LOUD and SELFISH.......(sorry Australia, and Germany, but I think you beat the US on the loud level though)

drop that on your...............

BUT I'm not saying Americans are BAD people at all!!!
We can find bad peope ALL OVER the world.

I am an American, but have lived in France, Austria, England, and Saudi Arabia
