I have a total of 3 days for my trip. So planing on spending 1 day in Vegas and 2 days in LA. I wanted to know if 1 day trip to Vegas will be worth it. Please advice. Thanks in advance!!!

You might be stretching it a bit there. If you are driving most of your time will be in your car and if you are flying ... in the airports. Skip Vegas and go to LA if that is your main goal. Too much to see and do in Vegas in a few hours. Traffic will keep you tied up in both places so save yourself the bother and just enjoy one place.

Las Vegas is the absolute most interesting and interesting city on the planet and with hotelbye you will see out more. Nowhere otherwise in the world you will find an area that has all the vacation amenities that just a total resort destination could possibly offer: lavish casino hotels, great food, wonderful live entertainment and state-of-the art convention and deal display facilities. Las Vegas is definitely a magnificent city and exactly what you would expect from a world-class town, and more, is the following for your travel pleasure. One of the areas you have to visit in Las Vegas is the Fremont Street, a pedestrian place with a myriad of unique sites.

Lake Mead/Hoover dam is something to see. One day. But, not on this trip - you just dont have time for it.

Let me give you a couple of suggestions. Since you'll be in town (i'm a local by the way) during christmas time -- you should know that the town is pretty 'dead' as for events & big-name entertainment. This isnt a bad thing... because traffic will be pretty light. You wont need a reservation for at least 3/4 of the high end restaurants. Buffet lines will be nada. And, pretty important, table minimums will be low!

You're looking at a 4 hour drive (maybe 4.5 to 5 if you drive slow) each way.

Like people mentioned - there are some awesome things to see.. such as Death Valley, etc... but time is limited.

My suggestions are:

Ballagio Fountains
(the BEST 'free' thing to see in las vegas)

Bellagio Conservatory
(if you're into horticulture, and clever seasonal stuff.. this is cool, free also)

Fremon St. Experience
(you'll see the FSE, as well as a couple of downtown hotels.. thigns are cheaper down here in the way of food/gambling/drinks)

Stratosphere Tower
(the best view of them all, and they've got cooool thrill rides)

Buffet
(hey, you've gotta do at least one..... RIO, WYNN, BELLAGIO, ALADDIN are the best ones..... you're lookin at $23 or a bit higher for dinner, but they're fantastic)

or, a Nice Restaurant
( i could go on and on)

Gamble
(yay)

Shopping
(check out FORUM SHOPS @ Caesars)

See a show
(there will be a few shows still in operation that week.. and, if you hit TIX4TONITE @ the fashion show mall, you can pick from about 23 shows at 1/2 price --- niiiice)

The answer to your question, is YES, you can do it... you'll probably be pretty tired when you get back to L.A., but i dont think you'll have any regrets.

hope this helps

I'm a vegas native. If you coming for one day grab coffee. Park at the MGM... from there walk through the casino and walk down the strip heading north. Planet Hollywood (newly remodeled, Ceasar's, NY NY, Showcase, Food Court, and Margaritaville are included along a 15 minute walk away. The mile shops at P.H. are nice and the forum shops trumps all...Than you can choose to go in any of the casinos that actually matter. Once your done hit trop back to Mccarran Airport... a five minute drive... and you will be planning more time to stay in vegas in the future..

If you like Christmas Trees and Holiday decorations, it will be worth it. Bellagio usually changes their Botanical Garden and Ceaser's has a huge Christmas tree in the front. Enjoy!

If you've never been there it's worth it just to do a little sight-seeing. Go out to Lake Mead/Hoover Dam and maybe take the long way back via Death Valley.

I agree, if you have never been to Vegas it's definitely worth it. You can do a lot in a day but you have to hit the ground running with a map of things to see, how to get around, and where to eat.
Here is a list of free attractions

Trust me, Vegas is like no other place in the world.
