This era, as in started 2000 or nearby, Id say Muse
from 1990 up, Tool, NIN, RHCP, possibly Foo Fighters, Radiohead
and of course there will be underground-classics such as Sigur Ros, Mike Patton, Tree, etc.

Can't really think of any exclusively post-2000 pop/rock acts that I think will stand the test of time. Too many bands out there these days and they're all weak sounding versions of their predecessors.
If we are allowed to go back to the 90's, I guess Oasis, Foo Fighters and probably Green Day. I hate Nirvana but I have no doubt they'll be remembered as classic in 40 years time.

The Libertines - amazing Brit. band, Pete Doherty is a great songwriter and guitar player and they had awseome songs ind did really good live shows
The Foo Fighters - just seam like the kind that will end up the rock n roll hall of fame
Nirvana - Of course they will, completly changed the 90's music scene
the Smashing Pumpkins - they are just so weird and differetn, adn might be remembered for that
Velvet Revolver - well, probably the ONLY real hard rock band around, mostly cuz of Slash and Duff and Matt are in it

My famous obscure band the Parlor Mob! There singer has a very unique voice and their music 'preserving on' continuously touches a particular position in my heart after I hear to it. each and every from time to time I favor they were extra or extra positive elementary yet different cases i like having the feeling of having all of them to my self! What I dislike maximum about the song marketplace is how at the same time as maximum bands or artists get authentic renowned it frequently variations them for the more serious.

It depends what you mean by 'era'. If you mean the last 7 years, then I can not think of one band that I can see becoming a 'classic'.
If you mean the last 17 years, then... well, not many.
The problem is that there is such a high turnover now of bands and artists who are all 5 minute hype and no substance, that none of them have the qualities to make them 'classics'.

I personally hate them but I think westlife would do very well if they sang there own songs and would be remembered in 30/40 years time!
Maybe Green Day and U2! Classics like acdc, metallica, nirvana and elvis will probably have been forgotten!

Who can say? It's a very interesting but difficult to answer question.
There aren't many bands around today that the older generation would admit will ever be classics. When you think about it however, it's beeen the job of the old to ridicule the music of the young for a very long time now. It is the music us kids are growing up with and we will be the ones in the'know' in 30/40 years time so. Of course Led Zeppelin and the rest of those great classic rockers will be remembered by most, myself included.
I think your question is all but impossible to answer without a large amount of guesswork, so i'm just going to say whichever artsist's work is considered most important to us in 30/40 years time.
The only bands i can see as dead certs are Oasis and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
