We are italians and don't like Turkey very much. We rather have Pasta or Fish or Meat. Thanksgiving is not a religious feast so you can sit together with family and friends, even eating Pizza !

My family now is my gal Miyuki from Japan who knows little about USA holidays. She just prepares usual Japanese food. We had live lobster crawling off the plate, sahimi (raw fish slices) tempura, salad, etc. for Bon Odori. Mom baked pies, usualy pumpkin for Xmas or Thanxgivin, and smashed potatoes and had yams and green beans often.
