I have a stressfull job and i do realise i am not the only one but in my case i just can't finish work and forget about it. On my way home, and in the evening, even sometimes at night, i keep worrying about what happened during the day. How do you manage (and don't say alcohol!) to forget about work when you finish work?

I really need to find a way to chill out or it makesl me feel like i work 24/7.

I used to work in a stressful job and I would come home and agonize over the day in painful detail. I would replay scenes in my head over and over again looking for things I should have done differently and all of those wonderful things you probably are going through.

For me, I found the best thing to do was to set a kitchen timer for 30 minutes. For those 30 minutes I would talk about nothing but work. I would get out all those thoughts and worries and stress and other things. After the timer beeped though I wasn't allowed to talk about it anymore and immediately had to start doing something engaging and fun. I would start playing video games or reading the newspaper or just something that created a literal break in my connection from what I had just done to transition me to a "home" state of mind.

Well you have to realize that stress is something that is happening to you and is a result of the relationship you keep with your job in your head. You are probably overconcerned with your job, but relax you will make mistakes and take bad decisions as any human being. Here are some things that may be useful:
-try to practice some kind of sport or go to the gym, if you can´t get of your mind, your body is probably the best help you can get.
-don´t make your job the center of your life, try to hang out with some friends that do not belong to your company (so subjects related to your job will not arise resulting in new thing to think about)
-remember that there is also a possibility that something is not going on well with your life and you may be using your job as an excuse.
-Your job may be not as important as you think or even that you make it perfect, i know that this may be painful but as you can get a better job, someone else may do the job you are doing now, that is the way thing go. So why give so much of your time to something you can replace.
Take care. And good luck with the gym.

i sometimes have the same problem...and its not like there is a recipe to follow...but i always tell myself when i feel myself getting worked up..."there is nothing you can do about this now" and stop thinking about it cause its just stressing you out...just repeating this little mantra sometimes works for me..also finding a hobby that interests you and challenges you really works...don't just go home and turn on the tube...do something which mentally stimulates you...i started painting again and i just feel the stress wash away when i'm in my "art zone"

Sounds like your mind is working overtime and analysing every little detail, too much thinking. You need to get in control of your mind and not let it control you. Try reading The power of now by Echart Tolle. xx

Oh one other thing your job is not who you are, a job is just one part of your life. x
