Then those same people probably complain about gas prices or governmental policies that help do something useless and aren't totally monopolies bent on stealing money from people too stupid to realize how much of a gimmick professional sports have become.

Hey, let me go out and buy name brand products because XYZ endorses it and it MUST be better than anything. Maybe I'll wear my $150 Nikes, $30 hat, $75 jersey, and bring my $300 ticket to the game so I can spend $20 on lunch to watch steroid users make millions of dollars! WHAT A GREAT IDEA!

Some people follow pro sports because they are entertained. Some people like to gamble on the games.

Some poor souls find a sense of belonging that they get nowhere else by identifying with a team. I suspect these are the ones who spend the most on logo merchandise. If it makes them happy, where is the harm? They could spend a lot more on psychological or medical treatment, without being entertained in the least. Better they should enjoy the game.

Personally, I'm entertained by baseball and the Steinbrenner's shenanigans. I wouldn't think of attending a game at the stadium, but I'm willing to watch the YES network's ads to see the games.

As for the player's salaries, fifty thousand plus people fill Yankee Stadium 81 times a year to be entertained by watching them play baseball, and millions more watch on TV. The salaries reflect the revenue they bring in.

why would you be SO CONCERNED on what other people spend THEIR MONEY for? They will not give it to you instead, so go out, get a GOOD JOB, and spend yours as YOU see fit.
