I had ordered my room in advance! It was some cheap old place in Virginia! When I got there, the bed spreads looked like they had not been washed since the place opened! There were roaches and flies! The tub was disgusting and there was rust all over it! The hotel room had no hot water what so ever! I was terrified to stay there so the first night I slept in my car and then the next morning I got my money back and left!

Yes! The Red Carpet Motel on Brewerton Road, in the Mattydale section of Syracuse, NY is the dirtiest place I've ever stayed. There was beyond filthy! The mini-fridge actually had containers of moldy food in it. There was hair on the sink and in the shower. I accidentally dropped something on the floor which rolled under the bed. When pulled the bed spread up and looked under, there was all kinds of food (including peanuts) under there. I'm sure the vacuum cleaner hadn't been run on that carpet for weeks.
I called the front desk and had myself moved to another room immediately. The new room was better, but not by much.

The Crown Plaza in the French Quarter, New Orleans. It was brand new so there was no excuse for it to be so filthy! (It was not even Mardi Gras and this was before Katrina). There was clumps of hair all over the shower walls, a layer of dust on all the furniture, the carpet felt slimy. It was just disgusting.

Yes. It looked like the sheets had been slept in and the bed just re-made with the dirty, wrinkled sheets. (We slept on top of the bedspread!) The bathroom had hairs in the tub, sink, and on the toilet seat! We turned the lights off, then quick back on to see if any bugs came out in the darkness. One place in Savannah there were people going in and out of the room next to us all night long, and we were afraid it was a drug pick up place, but our car had broken down on the way to Florida, so we were stuck there until the next morning.

Ugh! The Ramada in Williamsburg, VA! It was horrrridddd!

We slept in our clothes and tried not to use the bathroom. We were refused our money back. The hallway carpet was horrid! The noise was terrible (we felt like we were in a cheap hotel in a movie where the neon light flashes in the window all night).

In Cinnci, the hotel had bloodstained pillowcases, diapers in the trash cans, black mold on the sides of the hot tub (which people were still using) and a loverly view of an unaccesible basketball court with an open dumpster. Then it caught fire. Fun, aint it?

lol! yes.
Back when I was in my early 20s and broke, a friend of mine and I visited NYC and thought we could do it "on the cheap". We stayed at this hotel in Chinatown that was around $80/night and it was nasty. No windows and even a cockroach in the bathroom. Needless to say, we didn't stay there.

Moral of the story: You can't stay in NYC on the cheap unless you have a friend you can stay with.

Yes, the bed was on an slant one side, the sink had the plug hole bit missing and the place smelt of cabbage. To add insult to injury we had to pay more than was quoted. The room overlooked the rubbish in the back garden. We chickened out of complaining as they had our credit card details!

Yes, Howard Johnson's in North Carolina. It had mold and mildew in the bathroom on the ceiling and around the tub. The walls in the room had brown stains splashed on them and bugs falling from the ceiling and it smelled. We refused to sleep there and got our money back with much protest.
