Would you rather go to Russia - an ex soviet country that was once world's superpower, or the islands of Greece and enjoy some Mediterranean culture?

Not Greece. Greeks named their country as Hellass, which means helluva wideass. Or assess from the Hell. Not good smell there.

It depends what you want to see. Greece and Russia are completely different: different scenary, different culture, different climate, very different architecture!
If you want to experience the Soviet history, feel the developments and the shifts from closed market economy to open market economy - Russia is you country. Bare in mind that Moscow is very expencive but a lovely city. People are very welcoming and very cool! But I wouldn' recomend you to go now, wait for spring or summer. I believe Jun would be the best time to go to Russia.
Greece on the other hand is a warm Mediterrenian country. I would also say go in spring or summer so you could swim too. It is too cold for swimming now, although the weather is still great. Greece has a lot of charms and nice people (as long as you are not Macedonian - which I doubt you are)
Shopping is also good in Thesaloniki and cheaper than in Moscow, so if you also wanna do some shopping I would recomend Greece. If you are deciding on the Greek islands - I believe that since the season is over, there is not much to do, but while summer season is on - it is great and a lot of fun. If you are about to go now - I would say go to the cities, much more to see - Athens and Thesaloniki!
So I guess it depends on what you want to see and what kind of vacation you are after.
Whatever you choose you will have a great time!

All those communities would have performed extra proper than Greece in South Africa had they qualified. Greece is not extra proper than England because of the fact they had to play 2 play-off video games on a similar time as England qualified honestly from their team. Greece is extra effective than England because of the fact they park the bus, and are reluctant to attack. They desire for a counter-attack and pass decrease back to what they have been in the previous doing.
