Set meter to audio signal than attatch leads to diode legs. Then swap legs, audio should sound in one configuration but not the other as diodes conduct in one direction only.

If there's a meter selection with a diode symbol you just put the leads on the diode in both directions. It should read about 700 millivolts one way and infinite the other way. If all you have is an ohm meter, just use the 2k ohm selection and measure it the same way. The readings will be different for different meters but they'll be a few hundred ohms one way and near infinite the other.
