we r 1st time buyers. We've come so far in the mortgage contract and everything has been approved. now the bank's just come to realise i've recently become permanent at work and are not too happy. i'm waiting for more news on monday from them... Thank you for advice

Lenders prefer you to have been in permanent employment for at least 3 months, but this can be got around by your employer filling out a questionnaire, which basically tells the lender that your job is safe.

What it will boil down to is how flexible your lender is on this issue - it varies from one company to another.

1st most important '?' - are u married?
No? do not sign contract unless u personally can support this mortgage!
Yes then u are both on thin ice.
Do u have 6months of payments saved ?
No ? reasses u choice to buy especially if job is shakey.

in the UK,the one that just started wont be considered by some lenders,only the long term permanent worker,but no harm in trying,just don't get stuck with a high interest rate,as this could cripple you in the future,and dont be tricked by brokers about special deals,you can get these yourself direct from the lender without paying hidden fee's

There are many factors at work here besides employment.

Down payment, debt to income ratio, credit score, employment history - you need to look at the big picture.

as long as they have six weeks payslips it shouldn't be a problem
