Give in girl. He just can't stop thinking about piercing you!
(just joking)
Depending on which part of the ear is pierced, the wound should be healed after a couple of weeks.
Ear lobes heal faster than the top or sides of the ear.
Piercings on the body or face can take a whole lot longer to heal and there is more chance of someone having a reaction to the metal used if the piercing is in a sensitive area.
Piercings in the tongue often get infected, take a lot of time to heal and are usually very painful.
Think very hard about whether you really want to take the risk of having a tongue piercing done.
A tongue piercing can cause serious harm to teeth and gums.
Some people catch long lasting infections such as hepatitis C when a piercing is done with un-sterile equipment.
Body and ear piercing may be fashionable now, but what about when you are older?
Ears can be dragged down and droopy from wearing heavy earrings, leaving a large hole.
You will be scarred (though most scars are small).
Lumps can form. Some people get large scars from even small cuts (keloid scars).
If you are one of these people, you really should not have a piercing on any part of your body where a scar will cause you distress (such as your face).
Infections can occur.
On the other hand, you may want to aim at being the hippest 'old person' in town!
Ask the piercer how to clean the area that has been pierced.
Clean morning AND night religiously, if or when you do it.
Move the ring or stud round in the ‘hole’ so that it doesn’t get stuck.
See a doctor if you have problems like swelling, infection, discharge or pain that is still there after a few days.

With the two you have chosen, they are both basically in the same spot just one on upper lip one on lower lip, so the pain level will be remotely the same.
I have my ears pierced 6 times
Cartilage pierced 3 times
I have my tongue, eyebrow, Tagus, and industrial pierced.
the eyebrow is similar in feeling and fleshyness as the lip ring and Monroe piercing. So from what I have been through it is more of a shock than painful, you will squirm a little, and you will be sore for a couple of weeks. You'll have to take good care of it, because there is nothing HOTTER than a girl with a face infection! haha.
I would go to a store that sells jewelry or even wal mart, and buy a package of those sticky diamonds, and stick on one your MM, then buy a small hoop and open it up and put it on your lip, then look in the mirror and figure out which you like best. remember if you grow to hate it you can have a scar as it tries to heal back shut. so if you take it out, use a scar cream while it is healing so you don't scar your face. good luck and have fun!

The Monroe looks creepy (take it from a guy). The lip can be hot. Not sure what hurts more, but remember that surface piercings take a while to heal since your face is always moving. If you're considering other areas, nipples is really hot on girls (although I heard it hurts a lot), or a nice nose or eyebrow piercing can draw some attention to a girls facial features.

I used to have a side lip piercing, but they made me take it out at school and it closed up. It didn't hurt, but I have a really high pain tolerance. What about a tragus or belly button piercing?
My nose piercing is my favourite, as there are so many beautiful coloured studs you can get, and they're so cheap!
You don't know how you're going to feel about your piercing until you go ahead and have it done! If you find you don't like it, you can always let it close up. Remember to clean it properly! =D

determine you get a surgical steel ring, and use a hoop especially for lip piercing (the back is different). you will hit upon a hoop at incredibly much any tattoo/piercing save or at maximum department shops in shops like "warm subject count number" or maybe in those mini cubicles.

Side lip is prettier says me. Um according to my friend lower lip is more painful and upper lip not so much. I think he has a medium to high tolerance for pain. I just think lower lip is prettier because you can do a hoop but with upper lip a hoop wouldn't really work.

well i would have to see a pic of you to see how it would look, but i think a monroe piercing! or a nose piercing or your belly button ( that is so cute) about the "what hurts more?" i do not know you should ask in a piercing parlor!

Thinbk about this from the bottom of your heart (Sorry, hippyish, but I do want you to think VERY carefully before actually doing anything.)
Don't worry about what looks better on a girl and which will hurt more - go for whichever one you want.
Check out BMEZine for advice, stories etc.
