He's been crawling since he was 5 months, and is quite good at walking when assisted by us or furniture, even on handed.

He's also been standing himself up unaided and unsupported, and remains that way for a while.

Recently he's taken to crawling with his butt up in the air, using the bottoms of his feet instead of his knees.

Isnt this usually how it goes before they all of a sudden take off walking?

I know each kid is on their own time table... but he gets so frustriated from crawling, and I have 6 more pounds to lose.. so its a win/win situation for walking ;)

He may or may not be. My friend's son has been doing this since 10 months, he is now 15 months old and still yet to walk. It also depends on what kind of flooring you have. Carpet is softer and has more traction.. and can be the deciding factor of a baby's confidence. Be patient, he will do it when he is ready. But it's pretty common if he decides to take his sweet time. Best wishes!

It does sound like he's really close. My daughter just started walking a few days ago at just over 10 months. She isn't even able to stand up unaided like your son is. She was good at the furniture walking, hand holding, etc.. for quite awhile before that too.

She started by just taking two steps toward me from a chair the other day and then later in the evening she was taking 3 or 4 steps between my husband and I back and forth with lots of encouragement.

It will be really soon! Good luck!

he sounds pretty close to walking, my son who is 10 1/2 months has just taken his first steps after 2 weeks of first starting to stand unaided. Im not sure about the way he is crawling, i guess they have there own little way of doing things and it may be his way of getting ready for walking.

Boy, does this bring me back! If he has shown you that he is actually able to stand (even for a few seconds) by himself, completely unassisted, and can walk with you with one hand, showing you he knows how to move his feet, then I say YES, he is about to walk. One day, my son just let go of the table. Then the next day he let go and took a step.. just be there for him and show him he can get right back up, it won't be long, you will have a cruiser in your home!! And yes, when they walk it is a whole new page.. Good Luck and congrats, he's on the move!!

He's very close to walking. Especially since he's been cruising on furniture with one hand. My just turned 11 months and just started walking. He cruised along the furniture with one hand for a couple weeks before he finally had enough and just started walking. He loves it now that he can go wherever he wants now.

My son is now 10 1/2 months old, but he has been pulling up and cruising since 7 months, and standing unassisted since 8.....we are STILL waiting on those first steps. LOL
