I know college football teams need 7 wins in a 12-game season to become bowl eligible, 6 if they have a conference tie-in with a bowl. Do conference championship games count toward the total?

I can't find the official NCAA requirements online anywhere. Could someone post a link showing me where I could find the actual requirements.

I don't think the conference championship counts.

But for all the SEC haters out there, with the win for Mississippi St today, They are now bowl eligible. That makes 10 of the 12 SEC teams eligible for a bowl bid. And Vandy needs one more win to be there as well. Leaving just Ole Miss.

Bowl eligigibility depends more on if you are a big name school like USC,Cal,Michigan,or Georgia. Its all about how marketable your team is on tv,and whether the games sponsors are committed toward the teams that are participating in a bowl game. That is the reality of Division 1 Collge Football. You can win 7 games and be bowl elegible, however,if your school has a marquee name ie USC,your chances of getting a bowl game are enhanced.Ahead of teams like San Jose State,or lesser familiar named schools.
