I was always rather unhappy with my first name and have always wanted to change it, now that i am going to do so i've hit a crossroad and i'm stuck with which name to choose. My Surname is 'Rifaat' - Pronounced 'Re-fat' or some people pronounce it as 'Rif-at' but which of the 2 names Ryan & Raphael do you think suit.. Please state answer and reason

I think Ryan is better. Raphael could earn you the nick name Ralph and that is awful. Its also too repetitive with your surname.
Ryan is strong and classic and fits with your surname much better.
Good luck (btw, ryan is on my next babies short list so it must be a cool name!!!)

i definitely like ryan better. Raphael would be harder for average people to pronounce well by glancing at quickly. If you'd hate having the same name as many others, Raphael might be the better choice, but since clearly having an obscure name like Rifaat is a bother to you, having a mainstream name like Ryan will probably make you happiest.

Ryan Re-fat sounds better than Raphael Re-fat. And I like Ryan better.

I love Ryan because it's such a simple, yet classic name. It's masculine and very lovely, plus it flows well with your last name.
I don't like Raphael, probably because of the connection with TMNT. I don't like the sound of it either and it just doesn't work very well with your last name.
Ryan Rifaat would be my choice and I hope you'll find the name you've always wanted!

Ryan. Because Rafael is a bit too much in my opinion. If you're aiming for something a little more common... I would go with Ryan.

I like Raphael better (Rafi) for short...

Ryan is an English name and Rafael is Hispanic. Therefore it depends on if your Em=nglish or Hispanic.
