not stupid since the bottom-line is communication. not cool either if your audience do no get what you mean. in oral communication, slang is fine but do not use it when writing a paper/essay.

It's not NOT cool. It just is what it is for now. 35 years ago, life was groovy, girls were foxy and people who used such words were far out. We didn't have Emo and Goth, we had hippies and flower power. We gave the peace sign and said Make Love Not War. 35 years from now you'll be going along in your flying car and thinking how out of sight that old ex-hippie chick was on Yahoo.

slang is not stupid.
neither are those acronyms you wrote down, technically not slang. It's just shorthand.
what is stupid is deliberately spelling words wrong.
That is stupid.

i only use it when i text.. and sometimes on aim.. i prefer not to because i know someone who was typing a paper while talking on aim and they got their paper back and got 20 points off for spelling because he used shorthand! it was kind of funny.. especially since he didnt catch it or use spell check
