3x-6+4=3x-2
3x-2=3x-2
Therefore x= any real number.
It is an indentity.

Your simplification isn't quite complete. If 3x = 3x, there's another step to be done, and that makes the solution obvious. Some equations can have more than one solution, so if you're still confused, put in a number as x, and try it :)

both sides of the equation are the same line. so whatever x value you plug in, you'll just get some number = some number

for example, x=15

3(15-2)+4=3(15)-2
33=33

so the answer is that x equals all real numbers.
