Hey Jude by the Beatles
(I had no idea so my husband answered it for me)
He did look over the previous answers and agreed with many of them, there are some good ones around, but he said who the heck is the smashing pumpkins, and I agree with him and some of the other answers that the true rock is the 60s/70s/even early 80s but after that, there are too many groups and it's to hard to define even what is and isn't rock. I think the music was way better in the good old days!

So many eras of rock 70's-90s
Dunno about today's rock. But yesterday's was MUCH better.
One of the best in the straight rock genre:
"Here I Go Again"-Whitesnake (Hard Rock)
and by "straight rock" I mean,
Rock without fusion of Pop, Classical, Country, etc
to narrow it down here. :)
Of course I enjoy quite a few types of rock. (Not much of today's stuff though, very little, depends on what type).

This is the easiest question I've ever read here......The best lyrics EVER written were Harry Chapin's "Cats in the Cradle". Every time I hear that song it brings a tear to my eye and has made me a better father. BUT the best version of the song was done by Ugly Kid Joe.

Either Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven or Bob Dylan's Like A Rolling Stone. It's no MY decision, it's because of their popularity and influence on EVERYONE.

The obvious answer that most people would say is Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. I probably agree, although I've over-listened to it by now. Love Reign O'er Me by the Who is amazing also, in addition to Bohemian Rhapsody like someone else said.

It all depends on Your taste in music and what You consider rock by todays standards...Personally, I Love Stairway To Heaven (Live Version)....But Nowadays there so many bands that are classafied as rock that wouldn't know rock if it jumped up and bit them in the ****....Same with R&B....I grew up knowing R&B stood for Rythym and Blues, Not that crap they call R&B nowadays....Sorry....The classification of music nowadays is very confusing as they have changed everything So No one seems to know what they are talking about anymore.....Anyway....I hope this helped You out :-)
