using n=principle energy levels

number of electrons in an energy level=2n^2
number of orbitals =n^2
number of sublevels =n

so n=3
18electrons
9 orbitals
3 sublevels (s + p + d) or 1 + 3 + 5

the formula for that is n^2, where n=energy level
so if you plug that in 3^2=9
