oops im sorry. i need to rephrase my question.

* why is it illegal to put your 3rd string quarterback before your 2nd string during a game. I've seen this happen 2 years ago with the chargers, i totally forgot the explanation they gave.

1st 2nd and 3rd string QB are just a way to keep a depth chart easier to understand and not actaully directly apart of the game except as a reference. So it isn't illegal and who plays is all up to the coaches.

It is illegal people. In the NFL you cannot bring your 3rd string QB in unless the other two are unable to play. They brought this up when talking about JaMarcus Russell a few weeks ago. In order for the 3rd string QB to play in a game both the starting QB and 2nd string have to be injured or something of that nature. This is because they are technically inactive on the roster.

if this is about JaMarcus Russell (I read about that too) its not illegal to start him over the second string, if you start the 1st or second string and then put in the 3rd string you can no longer put in the #1 or #2 string QB's.

Its not...There's no rule against it...Generally, 2nd string is better than 3rd string...Thats why they're 2nd string...So, 2nd string is likely to play before 3rd string...

because like the people say it is a non fun league. but realy it is unsportsman like conduct in that would be disrespectful for the third string to start
