I've heard many tennis players have to retire early due to injuries. About how long does a tennis career last?

I'd say 10-15 years, depending on how early you turn pro. Some people start at like 15 or 16 and play until they're about 30. Those who start closer to 20 also usually only play until 30 or a little bit after. Agassi and Navratilova though are two large exceptions. Agassi started at like 16 and retired at 35 or 36, so he played pro for about 20 years. As for Navratilova, she retired in her 30's from singles but started playing doubles again until she was in her late 40's, possibly even 50's.

Depending on how prone they are to injury or not a career can last about 20 years. Andre Agassi retired after playing 21 years. He was 36 when he retired.

30 is about as long as it goes. People that play longer usually accomplish it by playing shorter schedules in their late 20's, cutting down the abuse on their bodies.

depends on when you start but regardless by late twenties your body and brain have had it. Not too many play into their thirties. roger federer might just be the first to try it and succeed as I believe he has found the secret to it////
