Delor

please shelter me from the rot of the dead
creeping into my vegetables
the garden grew spikes
and no one told me that meant add water
the tomatoes grow fullest first
perhaps miraculously like tiny beanstalks
why are they so demanding?

I like the atmosphere of the garden having a life of its own, but I don't know the purpose of the poem.

It seems like you have set the stage for something to happen, but then the poem just ends. I think you should keep in mind this vision, but wait until you really know what you are trying to say, and then finish it.

I'm with you! Sometimes you have to nurture veggies the way you nurture a child. Every living thing needs water in some form, even cactus. Love your final question!
