A D-II or III classification would appear to be in order.

1) Notre Dame likes to play against schools with equally high academic standards. Football recruits, like all of ND's admitted students, must demonstrate that they can pass freshman calculus. Obviously, the pool of jocks with the brains to pull this off is rather small. Notre Dame battles the Ivies, Stanford, and the service academies for these players.

2) Air Force was a highly regarded program under its former coach Fisher DeBerry, regularly winning the WAC against teams packed with dumb jocks. Navy and Army have obviously seen better days on the playing field when they produced Heisman Trophy winners like Roger Staubach, Doc Blanchard, and Glen Davis; but both have become more competitive of late. Navy went to a bowl a couple years back; not bad for an independent with no conference tie-in.

They play those schools every year. Last time they lost to 2 service academies in the same year was 1944. Weis will fix that though.

Weis doesn't pick their schedule either.

It's tradition for them to play the three Service Academy's (two each year).

And since my father graduated from the USAFA I have seen quite a bit of them and they don't get near enough credit for their athletes. They don't have the luxury of having Lard's on the O and D-line's. They also are on a very strict schedule and are more disciplined than your normal student-athlete. I get very irritated when people on ESPN and everywhere else don't give them any credit. They just see a name and automatically just think they suck.

It is tradition, they always play 2 out of the 3 service academies every year. And umm Duke has a better record then the service academies do. More then likely this will be Charlie Weiss last year. He sucks.

It is tradition. I was just going to ask if ND ever lost to 2 service academies in the same season.

Get a grip...They'll probably give him another year...If they were gonna fire him, they would have done it last week after Navy...Maybe they still will if they lose to Duke, who is probably more pathetic than Navy and Air Force...
