I think I'm loved for what I'm not cos honestly, no one can like me for what I am.

Both parts of your question are always true at least (but not limited to) in one sense. Someone's love and hatred of you is based only on what they know and perceive of you so far in their experience of you. This is not nor will it ever be complete or perfect. No one is able to know all levels of the complexities that make up another individual - and it's even doubtful if one can know that about ones self.

The only aspect of this that is exempt from this being true, are those instances of both love and hatred where it is not a feeling based on you at all, but rather a commitment on the other person's part to act in loving or hateful ways towards you, not based on who or what you are, or what they know of you, but based on who and what they are. It's the love that says 'I choose to act in loving ways towards you and show you love because of who I am, not because of who you are'. It's the hate that says 'I choose to act hatefully towards you based solely on who I am - it's not about you'.

Interesting question. Good thought food.

All of your loved personality traits can also be things you are not. I am smart, so I am not stupid. I am nice, so I am not mean. People love me because I am not stupid and I am not mean. haha
