mmm...the best for me is in my island rhodes, when at the area of the Aquarium the sun is falling into the sea, and disappears in the opened sea of Aegean. When i was a little girl i was saying that it was going to his wife...lol...
the same with the sunrise...appearing and throwing all its light not only to the sea, but also on the island....
Aegean is lighten by this sun..and it calms by this sunrise

There was this one particular sunset along the Iraq/Turkey border (I've talked about this before I think) with a dear friend. It's a sweet memory in itself.

A sunset at Sounio. With Saronikos gulf painted gold, and my company remaining silent. We all started to spesk again when the last part of the disc disappeared.

Cape Sounion. It was my first school excursion to the place. I was a child, but I still remember the sentiment of that afternoon. I have been at Sounion many times since then, but every time, I remember that special evening of my childhood.
Santorini Island sunset is in my heart since I watched it one summer evening, embraced with my first love. I was teenager.

I have been lucky enough to see some beautiful sunsets from our summer home in Maine over the years....there was one particularly dramatic one last August....it was made more so by storm clouds passing over as the sun was setting....it was extremely dramatic! Lots of bright red and orange!

...The falling sun gave up it's foothold as I watched it's life's blood scatter across the open sky and fade away into night...
...It's sheer beauty stays with me, still, every time I'm held by a visionary sunset...this "one" was in the early autumn in the Flint Hills of Kansas, USA some 25 yrs ago...I bask in it's memory when I need to "feel"....just feel...

Yes there is.
It is during a Blue Cruise in Aegean Coast of Turkey and the sun was setting in all shades of red, orange and purple. I actually have some pictures of it.
There is one of them, if you want to view : http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/7672/p1010256og5.jpg
It reminds me of a time of leisure, peace and tranquility
