It really depends on every other aspect. Could I take this higher paying job (or the degree I have with it) and get a slightly less paying job (still more than the one I'd "love")? If so, then I'd just switch my situation. It would also depend on, am I living alone? Married? I suppose it's hard for me to answer. Of course I'd love a job that I loved but if I would be praying to make it money-wise and living from paycheck to paycheck, I would lose some of the love for it. I am, however, rambling. Of course I'd chose what I loved - but if I would take that bad job (if in an area that I loved/enjoyed) and twist it (maybe go to school for a bit longer if necessary) in order to find a job, still higher paying, that I would enjoy.

love over money. I have taken the money before and hated the thought of work the next day so after about 6 months of it I decided the extra cash was good but being happy was better so I went back to my old job. You spend so much time working so why spend most days of your life hating it. At the end of the day sure you won't have as much money but at least you will be happy.

despite what you think, money is NOT the key to happiness. your job... your career... it's what you do at least 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. most of these careers are also salaried pay - this means that if you don't get everything done that you needed to during your 8 hours, you either stay late or bring it home... with no extra pay.
imagine...
*24 hours in a day, 7 days a week = 168/week
*the average person is supposed to get 8 hours of sleep per night, so we are going to say that's 56 hours of sleep per week.
*168 hours per week - 56 hours of sleep = 112 hours of awake time
*40 hours of work divided by 112 hours of time you have equals roughly 36% of the time.
*take into account that having a bad day at work often puts you in a bad mood. you will have no energy or ambition to go shopping, make dinner, or go out and when you do go out, all you will do is complain about how much you hate your job, thus boring everybody else and pissing yourself off because you have to remember everything you hate about your job. so, i'm adding 3 hours a day for extra time on a project, recuperation after a bad day, and complaint time. 3 x 7 = 21 hours/week
*40 hours work per week plus 21 dedicated emotional or extra work hours = 61 hours per week.
* 61 hours of misery divided by 112 hours of time in a week = 54.4%
in conclusion...
working a job you absolutely hate means that you are miserable at least 36% of the time... the average is 54% of the time... and we didn't even include the daily chores around the house like cooking dinner, washing dishes, doing laundry, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom, taking care of the kids and spouse...
** doing a job you hate would mean that you are absolutely miserable over half of your waking life. to me... that isn't worth it.

There is a quote that says "if you love your job, you will never work a day in your life" (I can't remember who said it.....but it's true. You spend WAAAYYY to much time at work and if you are miserable then how can that be a happy life? I'm used to be broke pretty much anyway -- lots of bad things happened over our lives. I'm happy when I can just pay bills and go to the grocery store. I've been laid off for a while now though......so, it's kind of a hard question for me to answer. I'd LOVE to be working, period right now. I'm so confused!!! Ha ha.....

Honestly, I'd pick the job I'd hate. I see working as a means to do the things you love to do. I think choosing a terrible job that makes a lot of money enables you to have great hobbies and privileges, like sending your kids to college eventually. The fun you have doing the things you love will probably outweigh the terrible feelings about your job.

Job I hate for a bit until I get rich enough then go to job I love so I could have money put away and still be making money. Does that make sense?

For me, it's more important to be happy than wealthy. It's self-respect and people that make life worth living and you can have that without a lot of possessions. I just quit my good paying full-time job after 12 years and am back in school to become a teacher because that will make me feel more worthwhile to society.

the one that makes me super rich. After I have made all the money that will make me financially stable for the rest of my life, I'd quit and go back to doing the job I love.
