I just watched it for the first time recently and its an almost complete rip off off Stand by Me only it had girls instead of boys. They even have one telling the story and a fat kid

While I love the movie Stand By Me (based off a Stephen King short story), I also like Now and Then. Knowing both movies, I think both have unique qualities even though they are similar coming-of-age stories.
And I like Christina Ricci, too, lol.

I didn't mind it that much, I saw it at the time it came out, I hadn't seen stand by me at the time, however I have seen it now and do think that it is a far better.

I loved that movie... but yea, now that you mentioned it it does rip off stand by me. Never really noticed it. I loved it because of the music... great songs used...
