I have a 500gb external hard drive i want to leave it plugged into my computer at all times. Someone said that if i leave it plugged in at all times something bad is going to happen. So i want to know if this is true. The computer stays one 24/7 so the external hard drive stays plugged in 24/7.

"Somebody" needs to stop pretending to know anything about computers. Most backup drives are external and stay plugged in for months at a time. It won't hurt anything.

No, it will not hurt the drive. An external drive is just an internal drive with an external case.

Ofcourse you could, exterior harddrive is only a huge memory-stick and ought to deffinetly be used to save stuff there and go away it plugged in. Why else ought to human beings even purchase externals? ;]
