my son is also 16 months old (he was born on 2 July 06), and he cant walk yet either he has just mastered the art of standing up by his self but he will only take 2 steps then prefers to crawl which is a lot faster for him.
he was late at crawling too, at 11 month he used to pull him self along on his tummy and did not start to crawl on all fours till he was 13 months old.
he was also very slow at chewing, we started him on solids at 4months but it was not till he was 13 months old that he learnt to chew properly and he used to choke on any food with lumps in it till that point, he will now eat a digestive biscuit without any problems.
i think that all babies progress at different rates n if your daughter is forward at something she might be a little behind with other things but it will happen when she is ready.

also my son had almost a full set of teeth (apart from the back4) by the age of 12 months, where as my nephew is nearly 12months old and he can nearly walk but he only has 3 teeth.

unless you are worried i would just let her progress at her own rate instead of trying to force her to do thing as this may have the opposite effect.

she will walk when she is ready to, trust me lol

There is no need to worry, this is very normal. My son is 15 months and still only crawls and walks only when pushing a walker or a laundry hamper! He too will only stand for maybe 3 to 5 seconds. If she is a good crawler and gets to where she wants she is happy and has no want to walk yet.All baby's develop at different times and this does not mean she is slow in any way at all. From what I have read baby's can walk from 7 months to around 2 years. My pediatricians son didn't walk till he was 19 months,I was also wondering about my son but I am not any more.

Average is probably between 10 or 11 and 15 months. Some are earlier and some are later. You need to express your concerns to you pediatrician. How is she on the rest of her milestones - is she average or above average on everything else? If so, I wouldnt' worry about it, she is probably just focusing on other things right now and the walking will come. If she is behind everywhere else, she may just need a little early inervention therapy. This is nothing to be afraid, but it's better to get her help now and get her on track than to wait. You said she is crawling, so she may just be satisfied with this mode of transportation for now, also b/c she is crawling, she isn't that far behind anyhow. Give your pediatrician a call and go in for a discussion about it - or talk to the Doc. on the phone, she or he will be able to alleviate your concerns, give you some things to watch for and set up a plan of action. I am not a doctor - so please seek your physicians advice and not just what you read on here.

Well, my daughter stood up a month before hir 1st birth day and began her first few steps a few days before her 1st birthday. For your info she is 3+ now.
I remember, since I was so excited to have my own child, I have always asked the same question u r asking now to my friends who have experience this situation. All of them gave me the same answers ie their children began walikng roughly between 10-13 mths old. However, I would not be too concerned if i was you but I am no expert. The best thing is to see a doctor. But, my uneducated guess i that it is just a delay and the only person who could answer this is your daughter. She is probably not ready yet but clearly she has the intention to do it by standing up

Good Luck

All babies vary.. I walked at 10 months and my brother walked at 16 months. I think the type of flooring you have also makes a difference. Carpeted flooring gives more confidence in a baby because there is more traction and it's softer. Tile and hardwood are more slippery.. and pergo floors are even more slippery than hardwood. Be patient, she will walk soon.

First: you're doing a great job as a discern, attempting to inspire new progression on your infant. save the religion - i comprehend this is annoying, yet do the main suitable you may with getting help first. are you able to commute with a view to be sure a pediatrician faster? have you ever had a gamble to hunt for out your community Early Intervention software - this is a great concept to get related with them authentic now - from each little thing you have written it style of feels as though, no remember what you come across out on the docs place of work, they'll exchange right into a great and espresso priced (loose) source. It takes it sluggish to get evaluated, so this is maximum suitable to start ASAP. From what you say it style of feels annoying to wager what may be bothering her. by using fact the different guy or woman reported, it must be that not in basic terms does she choose time to seize as much as her adjusted age, yet as a preemie, might advance critically slower by using time her physique needs to repair each and all of the rigidity it went via at delivery. it is likewise achieveable that she might have gentle cerebral palsy, which might clarify somewhat some the motor delays she is exhibiting. this is great that she is babling and likes to be cuddled (there is not something greater satisfying than having your infant happy)!don't be stricken - in basic terms permit the surgeon direct you on a direction to assist your infant locate the pros she might might desire to get her consistent together with her skills. in the journey that your surgeon would not refer you to a neurologist i might proceed to schedule appointments with different pediatricians until you get one you're delicate with (i might in basic terms be somewhat suspicious if the surgeon would not check out the motor function postpone with out the help of a neurologist). help is maximum suitable while they are youthful!

it varies, could be as early as 10 mths, but they will eventually get there. if you want to try and hurry things up a bit, try holding her hands and gently pulling her up and encouraging her to stand up. perhaps she's not bothered about learning to stand because everything she wants is within easy reach on the ground level. in that case, try placing some of the things your baby will be attracted to on a higher platform, say, on top of a chair or table, and when you do that, perhaps make it very obvious to her that the thing she's looking for is "up there" - that might encourage her to pull herself up to the standing position in order to reach the item she wants to grab.

my baby is a very proficient crawler and starting crawling around 9 mths... and for many months we thought she'd never bother walking, but we tried to encourage her to walk by getting her to stand throughout the day (being careful not to overdo it!)... she eventually started standing often because she started to get the hang of it - the balancing, etc... and she started to think it was quite fun to do it now and then. then when she seemed confident of standing on her own holding on to stuff (but still crawling to get from A to B) , we started to encourage her to walk by holding her hands and pulling her up to standing position, then slowly walking her around the rooms... she's now started to toddle along, aged 15 months... so its taken us a few months, not very long...and there was a point in time when we thought she'd never get there, but she did, unexpectedly faster than we thought - and we think it was in part due to our encouragement, so yes I do think sometimes babies need a bit of encouragement. Good luck! :)
