It's a binomial distribution if (and probably only if) the probabilities are independent.

So frankly, it probably isn't -- if he misses one class, he might take off a whole day from school miss multiple ones (because he's sick or something). So you have to tell a story about why he might be right (e.g., he might miss the morning classes because he's hung over, but only cut class later in the day to play frisbee if he's feeling particularly good).
