Yes, I miss HIM desperately, but I think YOU are right...WE should celebrate HIS life not mourn HIS loss and a New Orleans style jazz party might be just the thing!!! I do know he loved the Sax too!!! This sounds like the perfect way bid HIM the proper farewell! Yes, HE would want it that way I'm sure...God Rest HIS Precious Soul!!!

Despite common sentiment I believe a funeral should be a party- a celebration of that person's life. I think anybody would prefer that to the dour, depressing rituals that have become commonplace. I think we would all prefer the drinks to be flowing, good music playing, and the sounds of laughter and joy from all those we have left behind.

All I know is I would want everyone to reminisce on the good times, drink, enjoy some good music & just party! So your idea runs along the same lines as mine do! Let's send our good friend off in style!! :o)

i'm sorry for your loss. but maybe not exactly a funeral, no one i know who talks about when they die wants one. they all want a party, a rememberance of their spirit and sadness gets checked at the door. so go ahead and plan something like a nola funeral, i think it's a good idea.

YES!!! Celebrate The Life they lived...not the sorrow death. People have it all wrong . I want to be cremated and my friends and family to drink the wine I have saved and as they toss my ashes into the water I want them to sing and rejoice my having lived. My dying isn't so special...we all do that . But, the way we lived our lives is the celebration. Go for it.......

You answered your own question. It sounds thoughtful and a world of good fun for his friends and family to get together and celebrate life.

Funerals are for the living left behind. I promise, he won't care what you do, so do what makes you feel like you are honoring his memory. Your idea sounds great to me. You can plan mine someday. peace

Make a wooden boat.
Put the body in it.
Soak it in gasoline.
Light it up.
Send it to sea.

Is there anyway you can view the body in private? If so, say goodbye to your friend the proper way by making love to them. Don't forget to pull out.
