Okay, here are my favorites! Asahi in West LA (Sawtelle and Olympic area) is an awesome noodle house. I always share the cold tofu, ban ban ji and gyoza with my husband and then we share a miso ramen soup. This place is seriously great and the prices are very reasonable!

If you want sushi, I like Irori in Marina del Rey. It has a cool atmosphere and you check your shoes at the door in true Japanese style. Sakura in Culver City also has great sushi and sashimi.

If you can spend a little more, try Wabi Sabi in Venice on Abbot Kinney. They have great appetizers and rolls. (Try the fried tofu appetizer if you like tofu. I also recommend the tuna tartar!)

Depending on where you are located and how much you are willing to spend.
Nobu in Malibu is amazing, but super expensive.
Kinokawa in Long Beach is one of my favorites. It is reasonably priced, but you have to sit at the sushi bar.
Mahi in Seal Beach has really good sushi as well. It is a little expensive, and you will need a reservation ( almost any day).

Kabuki and Sayaka's are great. So is Ken's Japanese Restaurant. But they are located in the Inland Empire.

Sakura is a japanese steakhouse. It's fun if you go with a bunch of friends.
