I would adopt if I was young enough to keep up with a child and had the money. I sponsored a Korean child through one of those charities once, and when I'd been on the program for less than a year, they stopped doing Korea, because they said they were no longer needed there. I never bothered to do another. It's too impersonal and artificial, and probably a good bit of the money goes to administration salaries and costs.

What I'd really like to do is adopt a pregnant teenager and become an "instant" grandmother!

I'm gonna adopt in about a year.
I already have the kids picked out as the mom left them with me last year. 2 nieces and 1 nephew. We have guardianship right now but NM mandates that biological abandonment be for 2 years before the court even considers adoption.
I already had 3 to begin with.
My hubby made me take the "vacancy sign" off the house.
I would do the sponsor thing, but 6 kids pretty much leaves me broke.

I have not sponsored or adopted through any program, but my house is the local teen drop in centre. I have my oldest daughter who I have adopted as well as a foster daughter we have had with us for 4 years. We have also has kids stay with us just for short term stays.

I also have 3 kids of my own plus an 18 month old grandchild. All at the tender age of 34.

so adopting another child is something that i cant handle :(

I have three kids of my own and we regularly donate food and clothes to a family that's going through a hard time. I'm not gonna extend anymore than that right now. Maybe later we could sponsor more kids, right now we're tending to our own neighborhood.
