A lot of urbanisation is occurring on flood plains resulting in flooding of these new houses unless flood prevention measures are in place. By trying to prevent this natural flood control, new flooding problems are created downstream.

Well in the case of floods the ground covered in concrete in unable to absorb the rainwater there fore it flows into the rivers and can cause a dramatic flash flood!

it takes to much out the supply and creates a barren area below the buildings causing less wildlife and plant life to grow.also can cause pollution and the drying up of irrigation channels.
