How long does it take for hormone levels to get back to normal after breastfeeding?
I just stopped completley breastfeeding 2-3 weeks ago after weaning slowly for about 3 weeks. (I breast fed for a total of about 4 months). The past week I have had off and on cramps, emotional, and moodiness. Is it because I just stopped breasf feeding?? I couldnt be pregnant could I? could it just be a loooong PMS? What is going on with me?

deep breath....now, it can take up nto a year for hormones to balance from just birth. breastfeeding keeps the hormones up in the body and you got to give yourself time to readjust. your body is dealing with a lot right now from the birth, stoppping the production of milk, getting back to menstruating, as well as the lack of rest and the stress of being a parent. give yourself lots of time--months . and try to find time for yourself as often as posible.

I noticed that my PMS got immensly worse after I quit pumping breastmilk, so your period might be getting ready to start up again. If you think that you might be pregnant again I would get a home test, and maybe even a blood test.
