It varies. Early in puberty we all make associations. It is like our cement is wet, so we mold it and let it harden based on the various assumptions we set with what we are comfortable with. Some of it is a discovery process, some of it simply takes the societal standards as normal and we live with it. Either way, the basic hetero/homo slant is established fairly early in our adolescence. Opportunistic homosexuals will sell their perspective to the maladapted, while the abused and rebellious may opt for something different--either because the norms failed them or they are fighting against norms. Sometimes success or lack of it, reinforces a specific direction. A male who is constantly rebuffed by females or villified by other males will take comfort in males who are comforting. A female who has been hurt by males, yet comforted by females, will take comfort with females. Then too, some I've met were simply opportunistic in that they took the urges to the usual parties, but they were unavailable, so they took it to the willing. This then isn't an issue of youngness, but a discovery later in life. Sexual orientation is not necessarily static, but often is set when the gender hormones necessitate the setting of patterns, which steers our choices.

There's no "one particular age" to it; that should be obvious. When does a person's HETEROsexuality become apparent to THEM? It's all subjective. For me, it was there at the age of 9, and there were "clues" right on up through high school and beyond. But because I was brought up in a strict, religious household ruled by a bigot father, I was psychologically closeted for most of my life; I didn't actually "come out" till I was 30. (Better late than never, though!)

And it's "sexual orientation" - not "sexuality".

Sexuality is determined at birth. However, the discovery of your orientation can happen anytime. As a child or even as an older adult. Many people go into denial for along time before accepting it.

When a homosexual reaches the age of 14, he or she develops spots on the back. These spots swell up as a result of a surge of the homosexual hormone, pansocretine. They usually go away by themselves within a few months, leaving a happy, healthy homosexual.

i individually do no longer comprehend. There might desire to be 2 arguments for this. One being you have been gay the full time yet concept you have been right this moment, however the rape merely introduced on your authentic sexuality to come back out. or you may desire to assert you have been right this moment till now each and every thing yet to procure became gay after some psychological trauma. i do no longer think of that's a danger on your sexuality to alter because of the fact somebody raped you. in case you have been quite right this moment, you may have been disgusted with it, no longer take excitement in it. So, i think in line with threat you had some bisexuality interior you in the past and the rape merely introduced on it.

Well, for instance, I always knew I was different since I can recall. Sexually speaking, I think I found out when I was around 15.

Depends I guess, someone slightly homosexual would probably find out in his late teens, while someone really really really homosexual would probably even notice it as a toddler... I mean, if a 6-year old would wear dresses and pinch boy's butts.... Either he lives in a really weird environment or he's just homosexual...
but someone just slightly homosexual would probably just be sexually neutral until his late teens, and find out he just isnt attracted to women, but to men.

------------------
As for this "Sexual Orientation Debate"...
You can't really help it if you don't get boners from hot women, but from Orlando bloom...
And as for saying they go to hell, that's just your primitive religion to which you cling on because you need support and someoen to pray to... Dont go saying that homosexuals shud go to hell for the sexual orientation in name of a probably non-existing god. And If there IS one... you'd probably go to hell for saying such a retarded thing in his name

Puberty is when the hormones start pumping and everyone is aware of their sexuality. It's the same for heterosexuals too.
