So please forgive me for concluding that we lost the war in Iraq, with 4500 American deaths for nothing... when 160,000 soldiers couldn't defeat a bunch of Arab fighters.

No, you would not be correct. There is no insurgency! These people are freedom fighters fighting for their own freedoms and way of life against an aggressor nation and the puppet government that the aggressor nation has allowed to come into existence.

The Bush people are wrong and are criminals. Through their own error, they are devising their own solution, a solution that will work. A victory for them translates that they will not hopefully be indicted and will not be facing prison time. Accomplished at the expense of further Iraqi deaths. You can kill a people and keep killing them until the nation succumbs to the pressures of death. Except our way or die kind of thing. Is this right and will the American people go along with murder done under the color of the US Constitution? Is negotiation possible and a peaceful solution? Is a complete and immediate withdrawal possible? The answer to both questions is a very loud and positive "Yes!"

FIRST EDIT:
Chi Guy is right as it is Bush who has wasted so much of our treasure to simply bring Iraq under control in a war (illegal or unconstitutional war) that he started and is responsible for.

SECOND EDIT:
messinger1965 says "If we did not fight in Iraq there would be more terrorist attacks here and a lot more deaths than 4,500" and the truth to this is that it is our wars and military actions abroad that is the cause of terrorist activity.

Brian says that terrorist activity will cease when Iraqi people point to our military who are the terrorist. Yet, this is not what Bush and his people believe.

If an honorable and upright solution were placed before the American people, would they accept the solution?

The matter is not one to employ Iraqi people to stop a civil war. The solution rest with our government abiding by its Constitution and living within the laws of our land.

Yes.

Insurgency is filled by the will of the people. The Americans are not universally liked in Iraq, so the insurgency is directed against them.

Another reason is that Iraq is a hopelessly unstable country, the result of colonial British Imperialism. The ethnic groups have been at war between each other since the birth of Iraq. They will continue to be at war with each other for the forseeable future.

The only way to stop the insurgency is to unify the nation under some government that everyone agrees on that is able to maintain civil order at the same time, which I do not consider likely. No amount of military firepower will stop the insurgents. You can kill the existing ones, but they'll just keep on coming.

Also, the foreign insurgents coming in will become hated, and their cause will collapse. You can't have an insurgent against an enemy that the people don't hate. But, the problem is that the US is hated, and the ehtnic groups of Iraq don't like each other.

You would be absolutely correct in that assessment. Ultimately all forms of domestic turmoil, can only be resolved by the efforts of the indigenous population. Solutions must come from within, not from without. Granted, outside force, can act in a supportive role, but they cannot be the primary resource in bringing about a resolution to a country’s woes.

All of history attests to this truism. The United States, during the Civil War, could not have mended a fractured nation, with constant intrusion from outside forces. This bloody road to unity, had to be paid by those who lived on this soil, and not by Britain or France, even though those nations had a vested interest in how that conflict would turn out. The same holds true for Iraq.

We can support those parties in Iraq, that most closely resemble democracy, through financial support, but we cannot act as a perpetual big brother. The success of Iraq, and its fledgling democracy, can only be assessed if we leave the country, not by us staying there. If harmony can be achieved only by us perpetually watching the country, then that is not harmony, but instead state sanctioned intimidation.

Of all the casualties in Iraq, the biggest form are civilians, inspite of what the objectives have been. As to the French Partisans, they have been combating to repair their nationwide borders and government, because it replaced into, basically before the German blitzkrieg. The insurgents are combating for what? they have not have been given any unified message. No unified enemy. they are basically thugs and killers, attempting to have any style of legitimacy to do what they are doing. rather of bombing industry places, commercial zones, and different such atrocities, they'd have led a quiet revolution, by employing way of political consolidation of ability, it relatively is likewise condoned by employing the Koran, and the yankee squaddies could have left faster, as a results of fact the Iraqi human beings chosen a clean government, shape, and crammed the ranks of its protection forces. Now, all of that mentioned, i'm no longer attempting to take the validity of your argument away. i'm in basic terms putting forward a sequence of valid truths. i'm no longer a conservative. i'm no longer a liberal. yet, I do examine the newspapers, the two kin and out of the country, so I do get to have a greater rounded attitude on those issues.

The people of the Middle East do not want to stop the war. If they did someone would turn in the War Leaders instead of hiding and aiding them. I say blow up the whold mess and there will be no more war. Even our government is undermining the Americans by considering the LOSTSEA TREATY. The senate has passed it and now it will be up for Congress to vote on. Bush said if congress passes it he will sign it into law. I do not want to be under control of the UN. It is controled by the Middle East Oil Money.. I do not want to pay a World Tax, which is the first action they will take. How about you?????????

yes, I believe so. All it takes is the right leadership. They have been under a dictator ship for so long, and always told what to do. they don't know how to conduct a free society. And turn to the only thing they know as a leader. The Clerics All of which have there own vision how things should be.The result? chaos. The perfect environment for insurgency.

To the extent that it will take the Iraqi citizens to stand up and point. "There are the insurgents, They are the ones you want". When the Iraqi people have the confidence to do so this will be over. Until then, the insurgents will continue to hide among the people and strike when its advantageous.

Also, the US military trains to fight other militarys. This they do very well. The insurgents do not act as a military but as guerrillas.

No, I don't think you are wrong to suggest that....but I don't think it will ever happen....I mean how many Iraqis will be willing to step up and fight, which would almost certainly mean death? We can't even seem to get recruitment numbers up here for the military and now they have raised the age limit, offered special/large bonuses for signing up, etc etc.... This war is going to continue and we will continue to loose the lives of brave soldiers for a war that should have never happened.....THANKS A LOT BUSH...

I think you would be incorrect, only because of using "only Iraquis". I think if MORE Iraqis seriously tried to help stop the insurgency and more of them fought for their own freedom, the whole war would have been more successful as a whole. But I think people that have been beaten down either stay down in meekness or they rise up in retaliation, and I think they have been afraid to fight back.

Yes. Only the Iraqis have the power to take control of their country. Bush has wasted so much treasure to simply bring Iraq out of the chaos that he plunged it into in the first place.
