The term Caucasians was coined by a German Naturalist,J.F. Blumenbach he studied under Linnaeus. He grouped the Europeans, North Africans, and western Asians together and call them Caucasian after the people who inhabit the Caucasus Mountains in Russia, he chose that term because he felt that the Caucasus Mountains had the most beautiful people there.

The Name comes from the Caucasus Mountain range in Central Asia (Modern-day Southern Russia, Georgia & Armenia)...
These people who were believed to have originated around the Black Sea region, and which before the Bibical Flood of 6500BCE filled it with saltwater from the Mediterranean Sea, was a freshwater farming basin.
This area, at 40-45 degrees North Latitude, is cooler and cloudier than equatorial regions, thus their skin eventually didn't require as much dark pigment...
Skin and eye color takes about 20,000 years to change, under different environmental conditions...
These later Aryan tribes were believed to have migrated in several directions, some going to Northern India, others towards Eastern Europe & north to Russia. These would become the people who we commonly refer to, as having Caucasian ethnicity...Also known as Indo-Aryans!

It is easier to say what they are not.
and they are not Mongolians, Asians, or any of the black nations, American Indians or Eskimos. You may notice that I avoid the term race. We are all the one race under the sun.
