I would advise going to your GP and getting your thyroid tested. Have you noticed any other symptoms - feeling the cold more than usual, dry skin, hoarseness, thinning hair, puffiness of the face and unexplained weight gain? Alternatively it could be SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) in which case would recommend getting as much daylight as possible and trying to get outdoors whenever possible.

If this is a regular sort of thing, you may have an underactive thyroid. This causes great lethargy that is not relieved by rest or sleep. Have you got weight gain despite being as careful as you can with your diet? Do you get depressed rather a lot? Have you got thinning of the hair? Ask your Doctor for a thyroid function test (but be warned - chemical reference ranges are ridiculously wide, so making detection of this condition an extremely inexact science.)

This isn't really an answer to your question, but I can tell you from my own personal experience that this isn't anything unusual at all for me. In fact it's more the norm for me.
I'm not in the medical field, so I really can't give you any answers as to health problems being the cause for this, however, it may be as simple as your body just needing to get more sleep. This happens as we get older. Personally, I wouldn't fight it... if your body is telling you that you need to sleep then I'd do it. However if you're fatigued while awake and it continues then I'd see a doctor.
Hopefully someone else can give you a better answer than I can.

It just sounds like you were catching up on sleep you lost during the week. Does an alarm wake you up in the morning? That means it distubs your sleep before you have got enough sleep. Depression can make people sleep 12 hours a day. Some problems require 24 hours a day sleep (called coma).
Actually you are only dreaming that you have waken up. You are still sleeping now.

There could be several reasons. Your body could be fighting off something, it could be you haven't been getting enough sleep on a regular basis. ( I'm the type that can not function unless I have 12 hours of sleep at one time). You need to talk to a doctor about it, there could be something not right.

Could be something simple and transient like being a bit anaemic (iron deficient) or you may have something like an under active thyroid. If it carries on for a couple of weeks, go to the doc.

It depends to the medication that you took. Try to read the side effects, indications, and contraindication of the drug. If you have difficulty sleeping drink milk and try to expose yourself in Physical Activities to make your tired such as jogging, or walking.

Sometimes excessive sleep is associated with depression, but I'm sure there are many other conditions that can cause it. You need to ask a doctor ASAP.
