Well I love the guitar since it's such a versatile instrument.. but I also like the sitar too, it's one of the most fascinating intruments to me. Also the Chapman Stick is very cool for that full sound. I seem to be into the stringed intruments.

Even though I play the flute, a good violinist is always amazing to hear. The sound is very emotional and deep, and I think it's a wonderful instrument.
However, any instrument, when played well, is great to listen to. :) I tend to favor wind instruments like flutes and clarinets, though harps are beautiful as well. The trumpet is also one of my favorites, since it can act as a sorrowful voice in orchestral solos and as a jazzy voice to any band.
Each instrument also has its own purpose in solos and in groups, therefore all of them sound unnatural in certain types of music and beautiful in others.

No doubt -- steel drums always amaze me when I hear them. I was going to say the piano but your question reminded me of them.
Then again, the harp is amazing.

My favorite still to this day is the pedal steel guitar. Because it can make the most beautiful sounds, eeriest sounds, the transitions and note possiblities are endless. Second best is the chapman stick. What wonderful inventions! Thanks for asking!
