Why should the UK be involved in intervention at this point in Time ? Pakistanis just love to involve us and later blame us when they feel the solution sought was not what they wanted. When Independence in the Indian Sub-Continent was being discussed India was divided to please the Muslims who just would not have it any other way.My own opinion is that Mrs Bhutto is being driven by Political ambition and her inexperience in Politics. She will soon find that the Only result of her actions will be to strengthen the Taliban ,and destroy Democracy to be replaced by Sharia Laws.Musharraf will slower down that process.Perhaps he will need to be Dictatorial in doing this ,but Democracy is not popular where Sharia laws are popularised by Islamists.Difficult times ahead for Pakistan. An unknown third contender is likely to emerge.

The imperial powers are still the imperial powers. These tyrants around the world could not exist if there were no major financial backers keeping them in power. BP (British Petroleum) is a major player in the middle east and so is Royal Dutch Shell and Exxon Mobile. In short you can't stick your hand in the furnace and then complain about being burnt. The protesters DON'T NEED BRITAIN TO WAVE A WAN like another answer said. They do need Great Britain to do like they have done in the past. Use their economic influence with these major corporations to support democracy and oppose tyranny.

these hundreds of protesters are probably British nationals and it is the British governments aid to Pakistan that can be a powerful weapon to influenc einternal politics, just as cutting US aid to Pakistan will hurt musharraf .. though I have never understood how selling a poor country expensive weapons is "aid"....
The Pakistan ambassador is paid by the Pakistan government, what is he going to do? Tell his boss off? i don't think so.

The UK and the US give billions of dollars to Musharraf because he is an ally in the war on terrorism. Now that he's taken down democracy, people are upset we're supporting dictators and want to cut funding if Musharraf isn't going to follow through with his promises for democracy

Those people want the British government to wave their magic wand and make everything all better now.
We have those people in the USA also, a growing number of people raised and educated by movies.

They are living in the past. At one time right or wrong UK could sens a gunboat destroyer or cruiser into the foreign port and the matter would be settled. I think. I t doesn't work that way any more if it ever did.

I take no notice of anyone cowering over here while their country is in trouble. they are cowards beyond contempt. go home and fight for your family and your country and i may re-gain some respect for you. (that's how i feel about them) don't sit under mummy Britain's skirt Barking like little white poodles behind a safe fence only to run yelping in fear if some one opens the gate. there are hundreds of thousands of these gutless morons over here. i fail to see what possible addition to Briton these cowards can be.
