Since it is a direct connection not involving any programming I would guess that while you were doing the reprogramming you broke off a wire going from the button to the opener. Look it over carefully.

I am sure the reprogramming was not the real cause.

Try shorting the two terminals on the opener. If it works then, you are sure the problem is in the wiring or the button.

Not all wall buttons are hardwired. It may need to be re programed into the opener. Follow the instructions in the owners manual for re programing remotes, or call their 1-800 number for help.

what brand of opener, and why did you reprogram remote? You could have put it in lock out, in which case press and hold lock for a few seconds. Make sure light on wall button is flashing or on at all. If flashing in lock mode. If light is not on check wires and connections

Check to see if you accidentally hit the lock button on the wall button by mistake.
