Well, gee, let's see...
we ARE in the same world.
One big reason; they have nuclear bombs.
Pakistan is a Muslim country, and it's MUCH better if they are our allies against terrorists and seriously evil people.
Also, the more democracies we have in the world, the better the "regular people's" voices / opinions are heard and acted upon.
These are a few of my favorite reasons.

What affects one part of the world can have consequences in another part of the world. Since Pakistan under Musharraf is considered to be an ally of U.S., the extremists make it a point to drum up hatred against the U.S. The world becoming more and more global can create more opportunites for good and evil. 9/11 was not an overnight incident. It is the culmination of years of hatred by groups on the other side of the world. When people feel ostracized or stigmatised or left-out or oppressed whether real or perceived they lash out. Events like those going on in Pakistan can give rise to such beliefs.

Because international terrorism knows no boundaries. Musharraf is our ally now but he is under intense pressure from both moderates and extremists. If militant Islamists take over Pakistan and get a hold of their nuclear arsenal it will be bad for the US. It is already bad enough that the Taliban and Al Queda have found a new safe have in the tribal border areas between the Afghan and Pakistan border. We don't want them in control of the country. And then of course there is the whole pro-democracy thing that Bush claims to care about.

Because the world is all intertwined. What happens there effects everyone else in the world at some level.
It kind of like kids peeing in the pool. The whole pool is effected.
We have already supported the current political party with ten billion dollars. Now how many more will be sent? And that effects me directly.
Cheers.

We are all human beings and if you would disagree with what is happening in Pakistan happening in your country then you should disagree with it happening there. Just like if that was happening in your country you would hope that the people of pakistan would not agree with it happening. The golden rule.
I'm not saying that in every case we should do something about it, but being concerned is something that should be universal in humans.

The world is only as big as a plane ride.
We should be as concerned about injustice on one side of the world as the other.
We need to be concerned , informed and involved in all things that could , will and, has involved us in the recent past.
Bad things don't just happen to 'others' We are the 'others'
Keep your head up !

because of airplanes or haven't you read the news for the last 8 years. Trouble can fly anywhere. Some man (sorry forgot his name, he's a writer) said the airplanes of today are the similar to the Roman Roads1600 years ago. Technology can get us everywhere, but it also brings our enemies to us. The Goths and Visigoths used the Roman roads to seize Rome and the Terrorists of 9/11 used planes to target the people they think are their enemies.

Good question. Pakistan's Musharraf is a key ally in the war against terrorism, & although he might not be perfect, @ least he's helping. The USA already has told him what to do or expect him to do. I hope he follows through.

Excuse me.
YOU are on teh other side of the world. You have countrymen, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmane, Marines, contractors, diplomats, police officers....that are in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Pakistan is an ally in our war against the terrorists, but must tread lightly to avoid radical elements taking the whole country over.
We are all fighting the same enemy. I hope it wouldn't take an IED going off in your neighborhood to make you see the connection.
