My parents came to the UK from Trinidad in the late '50s.
All my mother's family seem to have lived in Trinidad since their Atlantic cruise; but my paternal great-grand father moved to Trinidad in the late 1860s after being freed from a plantation somewhere near Savannah during Sherman's jaunt through the southern states.
But let's not forget ... we are all Africans if we go back far enough!
