The short, technical answer is nuclear fusion: the sun is an environment in which hydrogen can naturally fuse into helium (as well as other fusion reactions, with lower frequency), and these reactions produce enormous amounts of energy which is radiated as light (which generates heat when shined on something).
The most common element by far in the universe is hydrogen, and stars are interesting quirks of nature in that they're naturally occurring systems that spontaneously produce other elements (and heat and light) from hydrogen fuel. You can think of hydrogen as something like gasoline, and all the other elements as things like smoke and burnt oil. Without the right kind of environment (that is, fire or a spark), the gasoline does nothing. But if a spark is generated, the reaction will continue to burn the gasoline until the fuel is exhausted.
Stars are kind of like these fiery environments. Fusion requires an enormous amount of heat and pressure to occur. Stars are just places in space where a lot of matter collects together (as it tends to do, simply because of gravity), and when enough of it collects, the gravity and original heat is enough to start a fusion reaction. As long as matter keeps falling into the star and it has matter to burn, the fusion reaction will continue, lasting for billions of years.
So, to answer your question concisely, the sun shines because all it is is basically a massive, continuous nuclear explosion that's constantly being fed more fuel.

The Sun shines because it sends out energy in all directions as radiation. This radiation takes the form of light and heat. Almost the same amount of radiation leaves the Sun in all directions. It takes about eight minutes for the light from the Sun to travel to the Earth. Hope that helps

it is natural process that it diffuses helium in its core and releases hydrogen gas in a nuclear fission process. and due to that enormous amount of heat is produced and it causes the sun to glow..
