For the last three months, my period lasts only 2 days as opposed to the 4 days I have been accustomed to for the last ten years. What do you suppose could be the reason for this?
I have had very little stress in my life & the only thing I can think of is my weight loss of 15 lbs several months ago (but the change in my period occurred two cycles after my weight loss was complete).

Any ideas? Thank you.

i think it could have taken a little while for your hormones to change because of the weight loss, and so you got shorter cycles a couple of months later.

when i went off of the minipill and back to the ring, it took a few months for my period to come back at all.

my period also got lighter, but not shorter, when i lost some weight. i lost 40lbs.

It sounds like you are dehydrated. A shorter menstrual flow sounds like you are not retaining your water like you used to. A big 15lbs loss is a big adjustment. I don't know why you didn't notice a change in your first cycle. Once I started some bicycling right before my cycle and it made me late, but the next month I had become accustomed to it and I was on time again.
Are you still drinking your water and getting your fluids like you used to? Has your diet changed? Are you bloating right before you start? If I can't bloat, I won't start. Are you eating fruit and vegetables right before your menstrual cycle? That would put more fiber in your diet and make you retain your water better. Are you constipated? That would definitely show your diet is not allowing enough fluid in your digestive tract to flush out your uterus.
If you start and it's slow again you can drink more orange juice, or eat more food with sodium or potassium, like raisins, plums, dried apricots, dates or figs. A green salad would have some fiber without too much sodium and the fiber would do the same thing. It would make you thirsty and you would drink more water. It might make you cramp too, so try and relax and pace yourself. Don't binge on it and don't drink a lot of water all at once.
I hope this helps you.

Protein causes dehydration whether the protein is meat, whey or beans and rice. Then there's always menopause. Periods and menopause are starting earlier, if I'm not mistaken. luv
