Have you gone to your control panel? There should be a place on your computer after you go into your control panel that says Appearance and Themes, if so click on that, then click on change desktop background. If you have not downloaded any desktop pics, then you will only be able to use what came with your computer. I use pics of my grandbabies, but I have to go to my picture folders to put them on my desktop, and then when I change my desktop I have to re-install the pic I had before. I think it has to do with your computer.. Hope I helped you too!

If you open a picture up in Paint (click on Start, go to All Programs. Move up to Accessories. Select Paint or simply right click on your picture file and select Open With ... you may need to search for Paint) then click on File > Save As and save the picture to your Windows directory (usually C:\WINDOWS) as a .bmp file, you can then right-click on the picture and select Set As Background (either tiled or centred, dependent on the size of your picture, of course).

Another way to select the picture as a desktop background is to right-click on an empty space on your desktop, select Properties and then click on the Desktop tab. You'll see that you picture will now be contained in that list.

You can always see and take images from the internet, no one is stopping you...
I had this problem at school before I had to have Administrator's permission before I changed my backround but there are some ways to pass through that...
Right click on one of your images...
Go to the 7th option which says...
"Set as Desktop Backround"
And that should do it...
I hope this answered your question...
