Communism is only good for the government. The people are the ones who suffer. I don't understand why history books are skewing history and making communism sound appealing - have they really omitted all of the oppression and death from the chapter about the USSR?

Because in a communistic society it's not about the indiviudal, it's about the state. You can't own property because it's owned by the state, and your hard work means absolutely nothing because it's balanced out by somebody else's lack of ability. You don't earn what you're worth, instead your paid based on the value of the society as a whole. Imagine selling 10 cars a day but earning as much as the guy who sells only 2. Does that seem fair? Cuz that's communism!

I believe in FREEDOM! The freedom to stay in school or the freedom to drop out. The freedom to work hard and advance in my field of work, and the freedom not to. The freedom to travel from state to state without papers, and the freedom to live wherever I choose. The freedom to eat cheeseburgers and drink cold beer, and the freedom to eat salad and have a glass of mineral water. We live in a country where ANYBODY can be ANYTHING if they are committed, focussed, and driven. No other country in the world rewards hard work the way the United States does. In a communist society, your personal freedom means nothing.

It is unholy to hate communism!

[ All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need. ] The Holy Bible (NIV) Acts 4:32-35

It doesn't work. It can only be enforced by the barrel of a gun. It is contrary to human nature. It insures a lower standard of living for those forced to live under it than does a free market capitalist system with a rule of law. It denies it's citizens the right to express their dissatisfaction with the government by voting them out. It makes a free press uncontrolled by the state illegal. What is mainly ignorance is the unwavering support many on the left still have for Castro, and for Chavez.

Communism sucks the life out of its people. For starters, not rewarding people for their labor takes away all incentive to be productive. People get the same (small) paycheck whether they work hard or not, so they basically become zombies. This is also encouraged by the communist government-- don't say anything or you may mysteriously disappear.. You wind up with serfs doing the bare minimum to get by, and government providing very poor services for their people or allowing things to happen that harm their people because they are not "of the people, by the people" nor "for the people". Communism sucks the life out of its people. Or for short, communism sucks.

If you truly understand the concept of Communism then you will know that Ambition, Greed, and Religion will cripple it. If you could find enough people to fill a country without those three it would work. If you try I wish you the best of luck.

Because communism alone has caused the deaths of millions if not a billion. Cuba, Russia, and China have all killed their own people for opposing their ideology. Communism was mean to be a workers' paradise instead it has become a workers' hell. In Peru, Maoists that believe in communism assembled a terrorist group 'sendero luminoso' or shining path. They killed 700,000 people including children. They followed Mao Zedong and believed capitalism was corrupt. This is why I hate communism.

I would encourage you to study the use of communism, and the countries that tried it and failed, miserably. Even socialist style governments in europe are trying to move away from that.
The only countries that are still practicing it are falling apart, slowly but surely. Thier people suffer greatly also.

Because of the misery it causes to people who have to live under a communist government. Ask any person over the age of 30 who was born in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Czhech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, East Germany, Russia, etc. They'll tell you how foolish the people who have not had to live under a communist regime are when they profess to like communism. Some people call them "hobby communists".

Communist societies aren't equal societies, like they would have you beleive. In capitalistic countries, there is the poor, the middle class, and the rich, in communist countries, there is the extremely poor, and the extremely rich, (the rich are often government officials, by the way), where is the equality there like communism supporters claim there is? Under communism, there is little personal freedom, little freedom of speech, little freedom of religion, (if any), and anyone who speaks out against the government, or belongs to a religion is persecuted, arrested, and/or killed. I believe someone would have to be ignorant to be a supporter of communism, actually.
